The UFO was around 60 feet under the ice. We are told it had been buried for 100,000 years. But the creature that crawled from it was found only a few feet under the ice.
The heat of the craft's atmospheric entry and engines would have melted the ice, where the being got out before it sunk in the 'melt-hole'.
