In Il pianeta delle scimmie, Zira and Cornelius stated they were planning to be married, but in this film they are already married. This movie begins shortly after the first film ended, so there wasn't time in between movies for them to have been married. Other aspects of this film suggest time has illogically elapsed between the two films; the original film had Cornelius and Zira facing heresy charges; here they're suddenly members of the apes' high scientific council; Cornelius mentions both of Taylor's friends are now stuffed specimens, implying that Landon had died after the first film; eleven gorilla scouts have separately gone missing in the Forbidden Zone, apparently also after Taylor had discovered the statue.
