After being imprisoned for 5000 years, Teth-Adam seems able to understand and speak perfect modern English, (a language that didn't even start development until about 1500 years ago), when he awakens in the Tomaz' apartment. However, it's more likely the residents of Khandaq are speaking their own language, largely unchanged over the intervening millennia, translated to English for the convenience of the modern viewer.
