Several shots show the view from the Control Tower where the visibility is good enough to see the runways and even the lights from the airport perimeter. This would mean that there would have been enough visibility to land airplanes. Also the crash at the beginning would not have happened because their glide path put them on the runway, the pilots would have seen the ground in time to avoid it.
