Judging from the muzzle flash from his gun, Uri did not get far from the van when he was attacked, and it would have been difficult for everyone else to see him in the dark. Yet the next morning when some of the group go looking for him, they walk for awhile, meandering between buildings, before Amanda says "this is where he went off last night, right?" Paul even suggested right then that they ought to figure out how to get back to the van, underscoring that they were so far from it that they couldn't possibly have seen Uri walking there the night before.
