In the first part of the film, when one of the small pod spaceships is landing on the moon, we see dust billowing up from the landing pad. Billowing is caused by the collision of dust and air molecules. But since there is no air on the moon, the dust would not have billowed, and should have been sprayed outward in all directions. However, as we learned from the Apollo missions, the LEM (Lunar Excursion Module) did indeed kick up dust (as noted by Buzz Aldrin moments before the Eagle landed). The gases that caused the dust to billow was due to the LEM engine exhaust, not air on the Moon. And the dust billowed sufficiently to cause a visibility concern.
