After deplaning and while standing in the jet-way, Reacher simply pushes open the door that leads down to the access ramp so that all three of them can escape from their pursuers. This is a restricted access door, leading to the SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) of an airport. It is a limited access area and requires either an electronic access badge, or at a minimum, a code to allow access through the door. The door handle did have a keypad lock so should have been locked.
