At the end, Bessalo asks Joe "where's the case", presumably meaning the one with the bomb in it, and is told it's on the back seat. When he finds nothing there, he opens the trunk and finds the case with the money in it, yet nobody has ever put it there. The previous time it was seen (at the pool), Dix appears to put it through the rear window before he gets in, although it's not absolutely clear. What is certain is that nobody opened the trunk before Bessalo.
