When Alice is first introduced, she tells Duncan "I absolutely cannot wait to return to Portman Square, having been to the wilderness." The film is set in 1757, but the construction of Portman Square would not begin until eight years, in 1765, and it would not be completed until 1784. She could not possibly have seen it.
