Early in the voyage, Captain Smith shows J. Bruce Ismay an ice warning from RMS Baltic. This leads into Ismay pressuring him into increasing speed for an early arrival. In reality, Titanic did not receive an ice warning from the Baltic until April 14. While Smith did show this telegram to Ismay, the Captain used it to take the ship further south than usual in an attempt to avoid the ice field.
