The Gatling gun is shown as a weapon superior to other firearms used in the movie. However even in best case, the muzzle energy of the Gatling gun is only 10% higher than that of the 7.62 x 51 NATO (used in HKL G3 MG 3, M60, M240) and only roughly one fourth of the .50 BMG (used in the M2 Browning). In addition, the rate of fire is significantly lower (200-400 rpm) than the one of modern day assault rifles (500-750 rpm) or machine guns (600-1200 rpm).So the Gatling gun is rather inferior to assault rifles and medium machine guns.
