When Johny visits the house where crimes have taken place he only has a backpack. But during the whole visit he manages to change to hazmat suit, use Laser Scanner to scan the house, use tripod stand for the scanner, use laptop to view and process scanning data and use suitcase with forensic toolkit to collect evidence. It would be impossible fit all these things in backpack of such size.
