Iron Man's armor regularly saves him when he is slammed into hard surfaces. In reality, his tight-fitting armor would do almost nothing to protect him from this sort of attack. When slamming into concrete, it is not contact with the concrete that causes damage, it is the instant deceleration. Thick padding can help with that, but not skin-tight armor. He would be pulped inside the armor.
