The song "Hello Mary Lou" by Ricky Nelson, which the writers presumably named the villain after, didn't come out until 1961, whereas in the movie Mary Lou died in 1957, yet they still play the song in the movie and it seems to be a sort of trademark favorite song for her that comes on the radio whenever she's in the vicinity.
