At the beginning of the climactic day, Paul is shown with heavily bandaged feet and ankles due to Annie's hobbling. Later that morning when he wheels his wheelchair around to get a better view of the sheriff's approaching vehicle, his feet are bare. In later shots Paul appears to be wearing multiple pairs of heavy wool socks, apparently a production compromise between bandaged and bare.
