There is no way that Superman could lift an entire tectonic place as he did when he "repaired" the San Andreas fault. Although he has unlimited strength on earth, his force is too concentrated where his hands touch the earth and is not spread out enough. In actuality, he would have flown back up the earth as easily as he had flown down into it.
