On two occasions, Lt Jewell appears to salute Lt Cdr Montagu and Flt Lt Cholmondeley, both of whom return the salute. However, the lieutenant is technically only saluting the superior officer, Montagu; Cholmondeley holds the equivalent rank as Jewell. This means that Cholmondeley should not have returned the salute. But Cholmondeley is depicted as being socially awkward, so it is conceivable that he may not have recognized this minor breach of protocol.
