The Western Union boy delivers the telegram to Sampson at 5:30 p.m. But the time on the telegram is 5:35 p.m., five minutes later. Although we later find that his brother didn't actually send the telegram, it was still an actual Western Union telegram and thus should not have contained a time that was after it was delivered.
