In the first scene at the Cocoanut Grove, which was the nightclub at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, nearly everyone is holding an alcoholic beverage. This was during Prohibition, and the Cocoanut Grove was not a speakeasy, so they would not have openly served large quantities of alcoholic beverages in that year.
