The story of Gawain and the Green Knight is set well before the Norman Conquest of 1066AD., yet the mansion where Gawain stays before going to the Green Chapel clearly sports neat 16th Century chimneys. Indeed, even the most primitive were not first seen in Europe until the 12th Century.
