Told that the President of the United States in 1985 is Ronald Reagan, 1955 Doc Brown sarcastically wonders if Jane Wyman is the First Lady. Reagan and Wyman were divorced in 1948, and Reagan married Nancy Davis in 1952.There are a few reasons to why Doc assumed it. 1: it was much harder to keep up with Celebrity news back in 1955. 2: Nancy Davis does bear a resemblance to Jane Wyman and was a lesser-known actress (Doc was likely mistaken looking at photos). 3: If Doc wonders crazy things like if Jerry Lewis is the Vice-President or Jack Benny is the Treasury Secretary, he must assume Reagan got back and remarried Wyman sometime in the next thirty years.
