When Bond opens fire at the helicopter from the boat, using only a small 7.65 Cal Walter PPk. It would be virtually impossible to hit a moving target from that far away with such a small firearm. Nor damaging the turbine engine in that way as to cause it to catch fire. There was no need for Bond not to have garnered an automatic rifle from the many henchmen he killed, so as to perform that task better.
