When Captain Steele first broadcasts that PanCon 257 has an emergency, the radio he is using is broadcasting on a frequency of 121.900 (the green numbers on the left side). 121.900 is a ground control frequency and is never used in the air, The Captain then changes the frequency on the standby side of the radio, but never switches over to bring that frequency up into the active. Later, the Captain talks to his operations center using the same ground frequency.
