When the rebel army charges toward the Spanish Army; they are facing a barrage of cannonball explosions. Then the Spanish army begins a full charge and at one point both opposing armies on horseback intersect in an open field. However, the barrage of cannonballs keeps reigning down instead of ceasing fire so now the Spanish Army is facing friendly fire. This makes no sense even in 1895 from a military perspective when both armies are visible and identifiable.
