When Bobby first meets Coach Klein, the coach is drawing up a play on the chalkboard and describing it. The offense is represented by Os on the upper part of the chalkboard, and they are moving the ball downwards. Coach Klein uses the terms "left" and "right" from his perspective looking at the board, however football plays are always described in terms of the direction the offense is facing. So he is using totally backwards directions in describing the play.
He also draws 12 players on offense. NCAA football has 11 players on each side of the ball.
