While on the airliner, reporter Thornburg asks his sound man if he can pick up air traffic with his wireless microphone receiver. The man responds, "they should be on our band", and proceeds to tune in air traffic. This is impossible. Wireless microphones are channelized, and the receivers cannot be tuned around, much less would he know where to tune. Wireless microphones are not on the same frequencies as aircraft, and are wideband frequency modulated. All air traffic is amplitude modulated.
