When John Amato drives up to the lady's apartment to drop her off, he gets out on the right hand side of the Cadillac. When he returns to the car to drive away, he is heading to get in on the left hand side but is shot by Jackie. The film takes place in the US and the car is left hand drive. When Amato drove up, Jackie was using the door mirror to view Amato getting out of the car so this is why it looks reversed. Jackie sees the correct view when he gets out of the car as the bright light is to the right of Amato. Yet Frankie is using the car interior mirror so he still sees the initial reversed view with the light to the left of Amato.
