Near the beginning in the bar, Goose says he'd be happy just to have a woman talk dirty to him. Later, they suggest it's Maverick's turn at the challenge of hooking up, as though it was Goose's turn previously. However, later in the movie, it becomes clear that Goose is happily married and has a family of his own.Although seemingly out of character if taken literally, Goose's remarks are most likely sarcastic humor consistent with his joking nature; Maverick would understand the context, and it's unlikely that anyone within earshot will tell Goose's wife Carole what he just said.
