A character says that as a child he liked scary movies like "Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy" and "I Was a Teenage Werewolf." Both films were made in the mid-1950s, over ten years after the film is set. However, the end of the movie shows that the earlier parts of the movie are part of a simulation. The people in the simulation were neither alive in WWII nor aware they were in a simulation.
