The restaurant in Paris is obviously mean to appear as though it had been there for over a century, which means that all of the wood surfaces are made from solid wood. Yet every bullet hole (squib) in all of the wood surfaces reveals a superficial finish applied to the cheapest variety of MDF (ground sawdust and glue).
