The metal grating used for deck material in the missile room set is far too noisy. All US Navy submarines use solid steel deck plates covered with rubber tile through out the ship, to reduce noise. Noise can be transmitted through the hull and into the water, so every effort is made to reduce noise throughout the ship, to make the boat harder for enemy ships and submarines to detect.
