Around 20 minutes in Gen. Ford insists that containment of the village is not necessary because of how quickly the infected die, yet at that point no one knew what animal passed (and would continue to pass) the infection to humans, and thus a response on the ground was still necessary. Further, the village elder told Daniels that the village's patient zero had gone into the woods with an unknown white man, who could also have been exposed to the pathogen and be spreading it in a larger city.
