In the scene where Bastian brings Atreyu back to life with Auryn, as the camera looks down at the corpse of the warrior, you can easily see the steady throbbing of the jugular vein in his neck. This pulse is visible even as Bastian sits lamenting over the body of his friend, before he even decides to make the wish to bring him back.
