In the repair shop garage, Grandpa picks up a large chrome-plated semi-automatic pistol that has been laying on the desk. He holds it in his right hand and cradles the pistol with his left hand. When he does, his left thumb is up along the middle of the slide as he is pointing it at the man behind the desk. Someone trained in firearms would never do this as the slide drives back and forth forcefully while ejecting the empty case and loading the new cartridge. As a result of this, severe damage, including the loss of a finger, could occur to one's left hand if the trigger was pulled in this configuration and the above sequence occurred.
