When agent J is in the back of the Chinese restaurant fighting with the giant fish he reaches inside the animal and rips out its beating heart and the fish appears to be dead after that. Later when J is talking to the crowd about the fish it is seen looking quite alive flopping around on the back of the flatbed trailer.
