By the time the film introduces us to Holt and Julia, Gabriel has already watched the tape and will die in 7 days. However, several events happen in the interval that could obviously not occur in just 7 days, like Holt getting ready for college and Gabriel amassing an underground club dedicated to the cursed tape.
