When inside the Reuben James' CIC, where Adm. Greer was "never there", it is shown that naval officers are manning the various stations. While it might be true of the station Greer interferes with that an officer could have taken over temporarily to deal with an admiral, those stations on a Perry class frigate would have been typically manned by enlisted personnel (E-1 through E-6), not officers or Chiefs (E-7 and up).
