Anyone who's ever used a nail gun knows that they don't fire nails at the press of a trigger. There is a spring loaded sliding safety at the nose that needs to be in contact with whatever is being nailed. It is possible for one to hold that spring loaded slide back and THEN pull the trigger, but that requires two hands and is dangerous because it would then fire erratically.However, when Ash and Lars are looking for Darby, Ash says that he disabled the safety on the nail gun.
