When the submarine surfaces to attack the German ship and prepare the deck gun, a Russian SSh-39 steel helmet is hanging on the shoulder braces of the gun. There would be no reason a Russian steel helmet would be on the gun especially since it just surfaced to fire its gun. Also their patrolling the mid Atlantic.
