Most of this movie was filmed in Georgia. This is supposedly set in 1978 in Galveston, TX, which is an island. There is not one single glimpse of the Sea Wall. This is a very prominent feature there. It is huge, built to protect from hurricanes. It used to be about 30" tall, but was built up to 50' in the past 20 years or so. One of the main reasons the Sea Wall was originally built is Galveston is the site of "The Great Hurricane of 1900". It is the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States. Some estimates were as high as 10,000 people killed by this monster hurricane with the lowest figure was 6,000 killed.
