Lynn tells Amanda that they need to take John to a hospital because drugs like prednisone and dexamethasone can only be given in a hospital. Corticosteroids like these are prescribed to be self administered all the time, especially prednisone which is the most commonly prescribed corticosteroid to relieve pain and swelling caused by arthritis, or to help relieve the itching and swelling from rashes and a number of other conditions that cause inflammation.
