The Eye patch wearing scientist Millard Rauch, played by actor Richard France, is described as being from the "OEP" which means the Office of Emergency Preparedness. But this agency had been dissolved by 1973 and rolled into Housing and Urban Development, five years before the time frame of the film. Disaster response would only be assigned to FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) in mid 1978, mere months before the film's first release (which was overseas).
