When Marla looks through the keyhole in her bedroom, she sees a piece of metal wire that the killer lines up with the keyhole and then jams into her eye. When she sees the wire through the keyhole, the end of the wire is twisted, like a corkscrew. However, after the wire is jammed into her eye, the killer opens the door and walks into the room with her. The wire is still all the way through the keyhole, with Marla's eye impaled on it, but now the end of the wire is straight and not twisted\spiraled at all.
