Sullivan goes to the White House to kill the president with the letter opener his wife used to stab the President. Sullivan holds the weapon by the handle. Later, there is a news report about the President's "suicide", but forensic analysis would have shown Sullivan's prints on the weapon and older, congealed blood on the blade. Also, no one questions why the President chose to commit suicide in the presence of Sullivan.
