The idea that the remaining 45 globes will be disintegrated on reentry is a fallacy. As smaller debris can make it to earth largely in one piece, a percentage of items deep within a space station of this size are guaranteed to survive and be smashed when they hit the ground, with a good chance that a number of the globes will release their nerve agent. As the number of globes required for complete genocide is fifty, every one of them that doesn't land in the ocean will wipe out 2% of the population. In 1979 the world's population was 4.363 billion, resulting more than 87 million being destroyed by each globe that survives reentry. As seen by the debris of the Columbia disaster, the above scenario is entirely realistic.
