When Henry Fonda (Gen. Theo Roosevelt) leaves Edmond O'Brien's (Gen. Ray Barton) sea cabin and enters the passageway, off-camera voices of the ship's crew are acknowledging orders to steer "Left Full Rudder" and come to course three-one-zero (310). Assuming the ship was on its way from England to the Normandy beaches, this course would be sending them away from the French coast, and back to England.
