Immediately after the opening sequence, a number 49 bus is seen crossing Blackfriars bridge; it then enters a residential area and shortly afterwards Sidney and Juliet alight and are next seen in Foyle's bookshop on Charing Cross Road.
The number 49 bus has never gone anywhere near either Blackfriars bridge or Charing Cross Road, nor would it encounter residential areas on the journey between the two. Since around 1935, the route has crossed the river via Battersea bridge and terminated in Shepherd's Bush Green.
The headboard on the bus seems to be correct.
