When the caterpillar drive is first sabotaged it is remarked that whoever did it "knew how to cripple a caterpillar in a way not easy to find." Some viewers find fault with this because they believe that the cook Loginov (who later attempts to stop the defecting officers) is the saboteur and he could not have the technical skills. In fact, Loginov is a trained GRU agent, as is explained in the book.
