While their was a fight at Newton's Station during Grierson's Raid, it happened with the troopers first arrived at the station against the station guards. It was hardly a skirmish, just a few shots and the guards surrendered with no casualties on either side. After that, the raiders proceeded to burn all the military supplies and tore up track unhindered.
