The ARCNET device is shown activating shortly after the second stage separates, and the launch abort tower is jettisoned, which happens before Saturn V reaches even the low orbit. While at that altitude the sky would indeed appear black, as shown, the Earth behind the rocket is obviously too far away - it would appear like that from about half way to the Moon.
